Verbs of Motion: Unidirectional vs Multidirectional

Belarusian has paired verbs of motion. One verb in each pair describes motion in ONE direction (unidirectional), while the other describes habitual, repeated, or multi-directional motion.

ісьці (one direction) vs хадзіць (habitual):

Я іду ў школу. (right now, one direction) — I am going to school.

Я хаджу ў школу кожны дзень. (habitual) — I go to school every day.

ехаць (one direction) vs ездзіць (habitual):

Ён едзе ў Мінск. (right now) — He is going to Minsk (by vehicle).

Ён ездзіць у Мінск кожны тыдзень. (habitual) — He goes to Minsk every week.
