Prefixes that Form Perfective Verbs

Not every prefix creates a simple aspectual pair. Some prefixes change the meaning of the verb entirely: • пісаць (to write) → напісаць (to write — perf.) ✓ aspect pair • пісаць (to write) → выпісаць (to copy out) ✗ different meaning True aspect pairs have the same basic meaning; only the aspect differs.

рабіць → зрабіць — to do → to do (completed)

глядзець → паглядзець — to look → to look (once/completed)

есьці → з'есьці — to eat → to eat up
