«Рука руку́ мые» — literally 'one hand washes the other,' a Belarusian proverb meaning mutual help. Notice how й and ў appear in place of і and у after vowels.
Лявон: До́бры дзень, Але́сь. Куды́ ты йдзе́ш? — Good day, Ales. Where are you going?
Алесь: До́бры дзень! Я йду ў школу, а пасьля на станцыю. — Good day! I'm going to school, and then to the station.
Лявон: На станцыю? Чаго? — To the station? What for?
Алесь: Чакаю на маму й сястру́ Надзю зь ле́цішча. А ты куды́? — I'm waiting for mom and sister Nadzia from the country cottage. And where are you going?
Лявон: Я хачу́ знайсьці ву́ліцу, дзе жыве́ мой ся́бра. — I want to find the street where my friend lives.
Алесь: Знайсьці ву́ліцу? Ты-ж так до́бра зна́еш наш горад. — Find the street? But you know our city so well.
Лявон: Гэ́та новая ву́ліца. Мой ся́бра й я зьбіраем маркі. Цікавую марку нясу́ яму́. — It's a new street. My friend and I collect stamps. I'm taking him an interesting stamp.
Алесь: Ідзе́ш, каб зане́сьці марку? — You're going just to deliver a stamp?
Лявон: А, што ты ду́маеш, я такі эгаісты, як і ты? — Oh, do you think I'm as selfish as you?
Алесь: Выбачай, я жарту́ю. — Sorry, I'm joking.
Лявон: Выбачай і ты, і я жарту́ю. Пэўна-ж рука руку́ мы́е. За маю марку не́шта й я дастану. А ты зьбіраеш маркі? — You too, sorry — I'm joking. Of course one hand washes the other. I'll get something for my stamp too. Do you collect stamps?
Алесь: Я зьбіраю, але ня маркі, а кнігі. Зьбіраю бібліятэку. — I do collect, but not stamps — books. I'm building a library.
Алесь: Дык до́бра. Мо́жа, у гэтую сыботу ці нядзе́лю. А цяпе́р бывай, браце, бо я спозьнюся на станцыю. — Well, alright. Maybe this Saturday or Sunday. But for now goodbye, brother, because I'll be late for the station.
Лявон: Бывай! Да заўтра! — Goodbye! See you tomorrow!
