Imperative Mood — Giving Commands

The imperative (command) form is used to give orders or make requests. In Belarusian, singular imperative forms are used with 'ты' (informal), and plural/formal forms with 'вы'.

Чытай! — Read! (singular)

Пішы! — Write! (singular)

Глядзі! — Look! (singular)

Ідзі! — Go! (singular)

• Verbs with stems ending in a vowel → add -й: чыта- → чытай! • Verbs with stems ending in a consonant → add -ы/-і: піс- → пішы!, глядз- → глядзі! • Irregular: ідзі! (go!), дай! (give!), будзь! (be!)
