Personal Pronouns

Belarusian has 8 personal pronouns — one more than English because it distinguishes 'he', 'she', and 'it':

The 3rd person pronoun must match the grammatical gender of the noun: • Masculine → ён: Дом новы. Ён вялікі. • Feminine → яна: Вуліца новая. Яна вялікая. • Neuter → яно: Вакно новае. Яно вялікае. • Plural → яны: Дамы новыя. Яны вялікія.

Брат — ён студэнт. — Brother — he is a student.

Сястра — яна чытае. — Sister — she reads.

Вока — яно вялікае. — Eye — it is big.

Браты — яны вучні. — Brothers — they are students.
